About
(Jerry) Zeyan Tang
Born in China, Tang received his BA in Economics and Fine Art at Hamilton College. He is currently an MFA candidate at Parsons in New York City. Since 2018, Tang has consistently explored in his lens-based practice the interconnectedness of culture and diaspora experience, specifically the semiology and linguistics. Probing the meanings within these structures, he captures the coexistence of multiple cultural and migration experiences, making abstract concepts tangible. The relationships between disappearance and impermanence, and presence and absence are particularly central to his practice.
Once upon a time, he was knee-deep in finance, living in a world of numbers and spreadsheets. Now, he traded forecasting market trends for predicting weather, and honestly, the new office has way better lighting.
